According to customs data, China's lithium carbonate imports in September 2023 were 13,656 tons, an increase of 26% month-on-month and 9% year-on-year. Broken down by importing country, Chile's import volume increased by 24% month-on-month, and Argentina's import volume increased by 42% month-on-month.
In terms of average import price, China's average import price of lithium carbonate in September 2023 was US$31,851/ton, a decrease of 9% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 48%. Among them, the average price of lithium carbonate imported from Chile was US$33,077/ton, an average price drop of 11% from August.
Split the import data into the receiving provinces, of the total imported lithium carbonate (average price does not include tax), 84% goes to Shanghai, 10% goes to Jiangsu, 2% goes to Fujian, and 2% goes to to Sichuan.
China’s cumulative import volume of lithium carbonate from January to September 2023 was 110,374 tons, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 5.6%.
