Foreign media news on July 24: Nornickel said on Monday that nickel production in the first half of 2023 will be 91,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 9%. The decline in production was due to the replacement of a furnace at the Nadezhda metallurgical plant and planned maintenance at the Talnakh concentrator in the first quarter.
Nickel production in the second quarter was 45,000 tons, a decrease of 4% from the previous quarter. Among the achievements of the first half of this year was the improved quality of nickel cathodes produced by the Kola unit, with impurity levels reduced by 40% compared to 2022 levels. At the same time, the Trans-Baikal division increased metal processing and mining volumes due to the operational efficiency improvement plan. The financial report also showed that copper production in the second quarter was 95,000 tons, which was 13% lower than the previous quarter.
