
The acid phase chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) production process independently developed by Hebei Jingxin Chemical Group Co., Ltd. was successfully applied in the CPE modified synthetic rubber project. As of now, the project has completed trial production and produced qualified products, and is preparing for production, which is expected to be put into production by the end of February. Compared with the current international water-phase process, the new process has more prominent advantages in energy saving and environmental protection.
It is understood that after the successful development of the new acid phase CPE production process, Jingxin Chemical Group invested 5.9 billion yuan to build 300,000 tons/year rubber-type CPE, 300,000 tons/year general-purpose CEP and 300,000 tons/year Special CPE and other projects. The products produced can not only replace natural rubber in five types of products such as rubber hoses, cables, and conveyor belts, but also cost only 1/3 of natural rubber.
According to reports, the new acid-phase CPE production process has the characteristics of less water consumption, high industrial utilization value of the by-product hydrochloric acid, and stable product quality. Especially compared with the current international water-phase process, it has significant water-saving advantages. The water phase method requires about 30 tons of water per ton of product, while the acid phase method only needs 10-15 tons of water. In terms of environmental protection, the acid phase method is also more advanced. The hydrochloric acid concentration of the by-product of the water phase method is 3% to 5%, which can only be neutralized and then diluted and discharged, causing environmental pollution; 15% to 20%, it can be used as a solvent in the chlorination process, or it can be slightly concentrated and sold as an industrial product. In terms of product performance, the elongation rate of CPE produced by the water phase method is 500%-650%, while the elongation rate of ordinary CPE produced by the acid phase method can reach 800%~95%, and the processing performance is greatly improved.
It is understood that Jingxin chemical researchers have previously discovered in their research that CPE additives can be used as a special rubber to replace natural rubber materials due to their good elasticity, strong adaptability and long service life. If CPE can be produced on a large scale, it can be converted from an additive to a natural rubber substitute material and become another source of raw materials for rubber companies. However, currently there is only one aqueous phase process in the international production of CPE. This process not only requires a large amount of water resources, but also produces 3% to 5% low-concentration hydrochloric acid, which causes environmental pollution due to high recovery costs and low usable value. In addition, the serious shortage of fresh water resources in our country is also one of the key factors restricting production. Therefore, Jingxin Chemical takes the research and development of new CPE production process with low water consumption, pollution-free and low cost as the research goal.
According to Wang Xingwei, the chief engineer of Jingxin Chemical Group and the person in charge of the research team, in the process of developing the new process of acid phase CPE, on the one hand, they relied on external forces and cooperated with Beijing Rubber Industry Research and Design Institute and Beijing Chemical Industry Research Institute. Experts determined the roadmap for technological breakthroughs; on the other hand, the group invested more than 35 million yuan to set up a research and development center, and equipped with advanced research and development equipment such as advanced German Brabender rheometers and rotorless rheometers. After nearly three years of hard work, the research team has solved the key technical difficulties of the new process one by one, and successfully developed a new process for the production of CPE by the acid phase method.
