Denmark’s Hempel launches two epoxy resin coatings for cargo tanks and ships

The Danish Hempel paint company (Hempel) has launched two new pure epoxy resin coatings. One will serve as a new cargo hold coating and the other will serve as a primer for the ship repair market.

Hempadur 15600 paint is a new game-changing cargo hold paint. The coating is a cargo tank coating that meets the new International Maritime Organization (OMP) coating standard, which can resist continuous immersion in a range of chemicals, including crude oil at temperatures up to 80°C/176°F.

Hempadur 15600 coating not only has the advantage of providing more flexibility, but also has the advantage of saving shipyards, because the coating can be used in temperatures as low as minus 5°C/23°F.

Hempadur 15600 paint has the characteristics of fast drying and adsorption on the surface two hours after application and can be recoated after 4 hours at a temperature of 20°C/68°F. The coating is also suitable for gray and slop tanks, mud and salt water tanks, frozen seawater fish tanks and other tanks.

Meanwhile, HempadurEasy 47700 paint is a new pure epoxy "all seasons" primer for the marine maintenance market. The primer has been developed to meet the requirements of reliability, user friendliness and flexibility for use in dry docks in all climatic conditions.

The new coating can be used on virtually all marine surfaces above and below the waterline and is characterized by high surface resistance and easy application to a variety of surfaces.

HempadurEasy 47700 coating also provides reliability over the entire temperature range and can be used in temperatures as low as minus 10°C/50°F and as high as 40°C/104°F, so it can be used in most dry docks all year round .
