According to Shanghai University, the 91st session of the Maritime Safety Committee of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) passed a resolution on the amendment to the SOLAS Convention, which will come into effect on July 1, 2014, requiring the ship structure to comply with the recently approved "Onboard Noise level rules >> to protect people from noise.
This rule applies to new ships above 1,600 tons, and the sound insulation between living quarters should be considered, so that even if activities such as music, conversation, loading and unloading are carried out in adjacent spaces, rest and entertainment can still be obtained . The rules specify the noise limit values of different places, for example, the weighted sound insulation index from living cabin to living cabin is 35, and the weighted sound insulation index from dining room, entertainment room, public place and from entertainment area to living cabin and medical room is equal to felt, the weighted sound insulation index from the corridor to the cabin is equal to 30, and the weighted sound insulation index from the cabin to the cabin with traffic doors is equal to 30.
Since the existing structures in these positions in the ship structure are directly laid deck coverings on the copper plates, it is difficult to meet the requirements of the IMO regulations. Therefore, these existing structures must be modified to meet the requirements of the IMO regulations.
The damping coating is prepared by adding appropriate amount of fillers and auxiliary materials to the polymer resin. It is a special coating that can be coated on the surface of various metal plate structures and has vibration reduction, noise reduction and certain sealing properties. It can be widely used for vibration reduction of aircraft, ships, vehicles and various machinery. Since the paint can be directly sprayed on the surface of the structure, its construction is convenient, especially for the surface with complex structures such as ships and aircrafts, which shows its superiority. Among them, water-based sound insulation and damping coating is a kind of damping coating with excellent performance.
Previously, there was also research on water-based sound-insulating and damping coatings in China. Although the research results have good damping effect and high sound-insulating performance, they have defects such as long drying time, poor construction performance, and large smoke when burning. Therefore, it is a technical problem to be solved urgently to develop a coating with high damping performance, good sound insulation, constructability, flame retardancy, drying and other properties to meet the technical requirements of marine materials. In addition, the density of iron powder is very high, which is an ideal inertial load material for the production of sound-proof materials. Although it has been used in sound-proof rubber, sound-proof plastics and sound-proof fibers, it often occurs when dealing with water-based coatings. Rust" phenomenon has greatly affected the actual sound insulation effect of its products.
In response to the shortcomings of the existing technology, Shanghai University has developed a new type of water-based heavy-duty marine sound-insulating and damping coating, which combines water-based styrene-acrylic emulsions with interpenetrating networks, and adjusts the addition ratio of emulsions and fillers. Improve the damping and sound insulation performance of functional materials in normal temperature environment. By adjusting the amount of emulsion, filler and coating additives and utilizing their synergistic effect, the prepared water-based heavy sound insulation and damping coating can meet the requirements of better marine materials. The coating has good sound insulation and damping properties at room temperature, and is mainly suitable for fields that require vibration and noise reduction treatment for ship decks at room temperature.
