The world's leading chemical expert BASF (BASF) has officially announced the launch of PremAir NXT, a new generation of direct ozone reduction (DOR) catalytic coating technology, to help automakers comply with the new US Tier3 emission standards and California LEV III emissions reduction standard.
When applied to a car engine, the PremAir NXT solution converts harmful ground-level ozone (a major component of smog) into oxygen. PremAir NXT is based on BASF's standard PremAir coating technology, which makes vehicles more durable and has higher ozone conversion performance.
Jim Chirumbole, BASF's Vice President of Mobile Emissions Catalysts USA, said: "As automotive engines and radiators become lighter, it is important to improve the performance of catalytic coatings. PremAir NXT meets this challenge, although using a cooler Smaller and less paintable surface area, but it opens up new avenues for equipment manufacturers to help them run strategies that allow them to meet the requirements to earn emissions credits."
